About Me

Experience

I received my B.A. in Special and Early Childhood Education from Mercer University, and completed my Masters in Education specializing in Inclusive Education and Reading. Over the last two decades, I have been a classroom elementary teacher, special education teacher, gifted teacher, an instructional coach, ESE Program Specialist, and educational consultant overseas. Currently serving on the International Dyslexia Association -Florida branch, I continue to pursue the mission and vision of the organization in and out of work through supporting people, families and children with language based learning disabilities as well as educators in understanding how to serve students with dyslexia.

Certifications

In addition to a Masters in Special Education and Reading, I am Gifted Endorsed and hold a Valid Florida Teaching Certificate and a Graduate Certificate in Dyslexia from the University of Florida. Upon completion of the UF certification alongside demonstrated mastery of the Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading (KPS), the Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI) validated my role as a Certified - Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist.

Family

My husband, Jason, and I have two daughters. Between the two of us, our girls have 8 aunts and uncles which makes for endless laughs and lasting memories. You don’t have to ask us twice to join in on a Disney trip!
